Russian Students Develop Automated Plant Care System
The new system is designed to create optimal growing conditions for houseplants without daily human intervention.

Students at Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI are developing a system to automate the care of indoor plants. The technology is expected to be particularly useful for people who frequently travel and cannot regularly water or monitor their houseplants.
The system automates watering and lighting, tracks soil conditions and plant humidity levels, and monitors air temperature. Sensors and programmable algorithms eliminate the need for owners to water plants daily or manually adjust lighting.
Autonomy and Flexibility
The software component was built on a digital platform. The device itself is a compact unit equipped with sensors that measure light intensity, soil moisture, air humidity, and temperature.
The students are currently refining and testing the system prototype.
