Polyus has launched a private LTE communication system at the Natalka mining and processing plant in the Magadan Region. It covers the entire open-pit area and enables continuous monitoring of equipment parameters.

The network was built using equipment capable of withstanding temperature swings, fog, and heavy snowfall.

The design also accounted for the complex terrain. The system operates on reflected signal. This is particularly important for an open pit, where constantly changing terrain can create radio shadow zones. Unlike previously used solutions, pLTE can leverage reflected signal to maintain a stable connection. Communication is maintained even in the deepest sections of the pit.

"The deployment of the pLTE network at the Natalka plant has become an important element of the enterprise's digital transformation. For us, it means a transition from individual digital solutions to a unified production environment in which mining equipment, sensors, cameras, mobile devices, and control systems can operate within a single information space," said Alexander Ognev, Managing Director of the Natalka mining and processing plant.
