Beeline Expands Network Between Moscow’s Largest Data Centers
The operator has deployed 76 kilometers of new network links.

Russia’s data center market is growing as companies deploy more of their IT infrastructure at these facilities. The systems being built are becoming larger and more complex, making high-speed, reliable connectivity increasingly important.
The Importance of Resilient Connectivity
Beeline recently announced the successful completion of work to expand its transport network in Moscow. The city’s largest commercial data centers are now connected to the network.
“As digital services grow, companies are increasingly deploying their IT systems across multiple data centers. In these conditions, reliable, high-speed connectivity between sites becomes particularly important – the availability of corporate services and the resilience of business processes depend on it,” Beeline’s press office said.
The operator’s engineers completed the planned work in three months, deploying 76 kilometers of new network links during that period. The upgraded transport network allows enterprise customers to build distributed IT infrastructure and add redundancy by using multiple sites. This approach enables them to redistribute workloads between data centers and reduce the risk that critical services will become unavailable.

Multiple Connectivity Options
Customers can choose from a range of connectivity options, from dedicated links and traffic exchange to dark fiber. The systems support data transmission speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second. That enables not only fast data exchange but also the deployment of highly secure systems.
Beeline’s project reflects a significant trend. Telecom operator and data center infrastructure is gradually converging into a unified environment supporting enterprise clouds, backup sites, distributed computing and AI systems.

More Data Centers Are Coming Online
Meanwhile, the data center market continues to grow. As of the end of 2025, the largest operators were continuing to expand capacity. RTK-TsOD had the largest infrastructure footprint, with 27,800 rack spaces. IXcellerate ranked second with 10,300 rack spaces, while Rosatom and DataPro rounded out the group of market leaders with 6,500 rack spaces each. Industry professionals also noted that the overwhelming majority of Russia’s computing capacity is concentrated in the Moscow region, which is home to about three-quarters of the country’s data centers.
In May, RTK-TsOD also reported the successful completion of a five-year investment program. Over that period, the number of available equipment racks increased by 50%. The growth came from both the development of key Moscow-area clusters and an expanded regional footprint. Within the Moscow hub, the Medvedkovo cluster was the main driver, becoming one of the country’s largest commercial data centers. In 2025, the provider invested RUB 3.6 billion (about $45 million) in launching a new facility in Nizhny Novgorod and bringing additional phases online in Udomlya.

A Window of Opportunity
Other telecom operators are also expanding their infrastructure in Moscow and the surrounding region. In 2024 alone, MTS deployed 512 kilometers of fiber-optic lines across the Moscow region. Extensive high-speed fiber infrastructure makes it possible to replace lower-capacity microwave links as mobile networks are upgraded.
In the near future, the gradual integration of telecom operator and data center infrastructure is expected to continue. For Beeline, connecting Moscow’s data centers expands its B2B capabilities and enables it to offer enterprise customers not only internet access but also infrastructure links connecting offices, data centers and cloud platforms. Other operators are likely to pursue similar capabilities for their customers.
