Russian Mining Giant Launches Progressive Web App to Boost Client Access

Severstal has rolled out a new digital platform that blends mobile app convenience with full web functionality, part of a record-setting investment in domestic IT.
Severstal, a major Russian producer of iron ore and coking coal for steelmaking, is continuing to digitize its operations with the launch of a progressive web application (PWA) designed to improve client communication.
The platform merges the usability of mobile apps with the depth of traditional websites, and is accessible on both iOS and Android devices. The goal: seamless access and improved interaction with customers.
This launch is part of Severstal’s larger push into domestic tech. In 2025, the company plans to invest a record-breaking 13 billion rubles into IT infrastructure and digital projects—up from 10 billion last year. Over the past five years, Severstal’s investment in digitalization has more than doubled.
The significant spending underscores a national trend: replacing foreign technologies with homegrown solutions while accelerating digital transformation across Russia’s industrial landscape.
