20 Young Russian Scientists Win Grants for Agri-Tech Startups

Each recipient from Chuvash State Agrarian University will receive 1 million rubles (about $11,000) to launch projects that bring AI, biotechnology, and novel food products into agriculture.

Twenty young researchers at Chuvash State Agrarian University have secured grants of 1 million rubles (roughly $11,000) each to develop innovative projects for Russia’s agricultural sector. Their work ranges from digital tools for crop forecasting to advanced feed additives and new food products. The funding is expected to help turn ideas into working solutions, giving a tangible boost to the industry.

According to Cheboksary.ru, many of the winning projects center on digital technologies. Kirill Vorobyov is building an app to predict barley harvests, while Ulyana Koklyugina is developing a drone- and AI-powered platform for monitoring soil erosion.

Biotechnology is another key focus. Anastasia Semyonova is working on immune-boosting drugs for calves, Gleb Dvoretsky is creating feed supplements for fish, and Elena Keledan is developing multi-enzyme additives from grain crops.

Food innovation also features prominently. Anastasia Vasilyeva is designing a recipe for spicy cheese, while Roman Oseev is creating equipment to produce dried caramel cheese with honey. Other projects include a smart hydroponic system for greens and a new machine for harvesting cabbage.

University vice-rector Lyudmila Ivanova noted that the grants demonstrate the strong level of scientific and entrepreneurial initiative at the institution. The startups, she said, are not just ideas but practical steps toward transforming Russia’s agro-industrial complex.
