Digital Technology Is Reshaping the Labor Market

In Russia’s Volgograd region, the number of job postings requiring skills in artificial intelligence continues to grow, according to data from the Avito Jobs platform.

In 2025, the region ranked fourth nationwide in growth of job offers for rotational workers with AI-related skills. The number of such vacancies increased by 73 percent compared with the previous year. The average salary for these specialists has surpassed 112,500 rubles a month (about $1,250).

Data Analysis on the Farm

The most noticeable changes are occurring in the agricultural sector. In farming, the number of vacancies requiring AI-related skills has increased 2.2 times. The average salary in this category has reached 114,500 rubles per month (about $1,270).

One of the most in-demand roles is that of a dairy worker. Demand for these specialists has more than doubled, and offered salaries exceed the regional average for qualified employees.

Digital Milking

Modern dairy workers now operate automated milking systems and other digital technologies used on farms. In contemporary agricultural complexes, cameras and sensors monitor the behavior of cows and transmit the data to analytical systems. Algorithms can detect early signs of disease or stress much earlier than a human observer.

Workers must pay attention to these signals, correctly interpret the data, and respond quickly when problems arise. As a result, dairy workers now routinely analyze sensor data, track alerts from monitoring systems, and react to changes in the condition and behavior of the animals under their care. Today, producing milk requires more than just a large bucket and skilled hands.
