Russia Develops Standards for Deploying Robots at Industrial Facilities
The move is expected to help companies roll out new robots faster while cutting automation costs.

Russia has developed its first standards for deploying robots in manufacturing. The document sets out a common set of rules and terminology for software-level interaction between robots and their control systems.
Yandex Robotics prepared the technical documentation with input from robot manufacturers, system integrators and industrial companies, taking into account the specifics of the Russian robotics market. The work involved the Robotics technical standardization committee and the Industrial Robotics subcommittee, with support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rosstandart and the Institute for Standardization.
Speaking the Same Language
Because the market lacks unified protocols and agreed terminology, integrating multiple robots at a single facility can currently take months and come at a high financial cost.
The introduction of shared criteria is expected to help vendors and integrators develop interoperable solutions and reduce the amount of custom engineering required for each client. Over time, this could enable factories to operate mixed fleets of robots using technologies from different manufacturers.
