Russia Pilots ‘My Pet’ App to Give Stray Animals a Home

A pilot project in Tyumen will use a unified digital system to connect shelters, veterinarians, and citizens to find homes for stray animals across Russia.

Russia is preparing to test a new digital platform called My Pet, designed to ensure that every stray animal has a chance at adoption. The pilot launch will begin in the Tyumen region.

The project brings together veterinary services and concerned citizens, aiming to make the process of working with homeless animals transparent and efficient. Anyone who finds or spots a stray on the street will be able to submit a report through the platform and track its progress.

The unified digital system will collect data on animals, shelters, and adoption contracts. In effect, this will be the country’s first digital registry for strays, helping to allocate resources more efficiently for care and treatment, while gradually addressing the problem of homelessness in Russia’s regions.

The plan is to roll out the platform nationwide next year. Citizens will also be able to report stray animals directly through the government’s Gosuslugi public services portal.
