Russia Will Use AI to Collect Questions for Putin’s Annual Call-In Show

Neural networks will analyze millions of citizen messages to map public sentiment before the president goes live.

For the first time, Russia plans to use artificial intelligence to collect and analyze questions from citizens ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s annual live Q&A session, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the state news agency TASS.

According to Peskov, the system will begin gathering submissions two weeks before the broadcast, drawing on multiple communication channels — phone calls, text messages, and online forms.

“This will allow us to present the full spectrum of public sentiment to the president as quickly as possible,” Peskov said.

Neural Networks for Real-Time Feedback

Putin’s Direct Line — a televised event where citizens ask the president questions in real time — has been held almost every year since 2001. This year, it will again be combined with his major annual press conference.

Last year’s session lasted four hours and 27 minutes, during which operators from the People’s Front call center used GigaChat, a Russian-made neural network, to analyze incoming messages. The AI system processed both text and audio inputs, categorized them by topic, and sorted them into databases for review.

By automating the process with AI, organizers hope to capture the national mood in real time, giving the Kremlin a detailed, data-driven snapshot of citizens’ concerns — and tightening the link between state media, public feedback, and presidential messaging.
