Shvabe Holding, part of Rostec, presented its new DS10 traffic light at the “Arctic — Regions” forum. The device can be integrated into a smart city system and has been specifically designed to operate in harsh Arctic conditions.

The traffic light features an RGB matrix that makes the signals clearly visible even in poor weather conditions. An additional LED profile along the poles duplicates the signals and helps drivers navigate at night, during snowfall or in fog.

The traffic light can also work with other devices. In particular, cameras and environmental monitoring sensors can be integrated into the system.

“Implementing the Arctic Zone development programme requires special solutions for the urban environment that can improve quality of life in a harsh climate. During the polar night, reliable street lighting systems are essential, while extremely low temperatures require clear organization of traffic and navigation,” said Anatoly Sludnykh, chairman of the Sverdlovsk Regional Branch of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia.
