StGAU Develops Digital Technologies for Early Detection of Plant Diseases
The technologies combine artificial intelligence, machine vision systems and unmanned devices.

Researchers at Stavropol State Agrarian University are actively developing systems for the early detection of plant diseases. Vladimir Sitnikov, the university’s rector, spoke about the work at the International Youth Festival in Yekaterinburg.
The technology combines artificial intelligence, machine vision systems and unmanned devices. It allows researchers to quickly collect the necessary information directly in greenhouses, identify diseased plants and make management decisions aimed at preventing crop losses.
StGAU’s research is already being tested at greenhouse facilities operated by the ECO-Culture agricultural holding in four different regions of Russia. In other words, the university is not focused on developing laboratory prototypes but on practical solutions that are already being used in real-world operations.
