A robotic system for chest compressions has been installed at Ivanovo Medical College. The device is called CardioRobot and is the first Russian-developed system of its kind. Faculty members will be trained to use it in the near future, after which students will begin learning to operate the equipment.

CardioRobots are already actively used by the region's anesthesiology and intensive care teams, according to reports. The equipment enables highly precise treatment of patients even while an ambulance is in motion.

The robot's main advantage is endurance. A person can perform effective chest compressions for only two to three minutes. CardioRobot can operate for up to 45 minutes on a single battery without losing effectiveness. The electronics can independently detect the onset of cardiac arrest and initiate resuscitation. The required compression force is determined using a built-in sensor system.
