Isotope and Mayak Supply Krypton-85 to Moscow Region Gigafactory
The isotope is essential for quality control in battery manufacturing.

JSC Isotope and FSUE Mayak Production Association, both part of Rosatom, have supplied domestically produced krypton-85 to the energy storage gigafactory in the Moscow Region. The isotope is used for quality control in battery manufacturing. Sensors detect its radiation, allowing manufacturers to apply the active material evenly to foil and identify defects in a timely manner. A similar delivery to Rosatom’s gigafactory in the Kaliningrad Region is planned for November this year.
The gigafactory, which produces energy storage systems for electric vehicles and stationary power systems, is part of Russia’s first robotic battery manufacturing cluster. The facilities in the Moscow and Kaliningrad regions provide a full production cycle for batteries.
