Chuvashia Set to Fully Adopt Digital Construction Documentation
Starting Jan. 1, 2027, government customers in Chuvashia will keep design documentation and engineering survey results for publicly funded projects exclusively in digital form, eliminating the need for paper copies.
The requirement will apply to the construction, reconstruction and major renovation of projects financed from the republic's and municipal budgets. The Cabinet of Ministers of Chuvashia approved the relevant draft resolution. Contracts signed after Jan. 1, 2027, will have to require customers to keep all project documentation in digital form.
As Chuvashia's Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Vladimir Maksimov explained, the technical capability to make the transition became available in 2026 with the introduction of the Information System for Managing Government Customer Projects in Construction.
Local governments have been advised to digitize documentation for projects designed with local budget funds starting on the same date. Chuvashia currently ranks third nationwide for the effectiveness of operating such systems in the construction industry.
