Remote Russian Villages Gain Access to High-Speed Internet and Digital Services

Even the smallest rural communities in Russia are now coming online, thanks to a national push for inclusive mobile coverage and fast internet.
Russia is ramping up efforts to bring digital connectivity to its most remote regions. Recently, 40 additional villages in the Belgorod region were connected to reliable mobile networks and high-speed internet. Population size is no barrier—services are being extended even to settlements with fewer than 100 residents.
With continuous access to mobile broadband, rural residents are using government and social services, banking apps, and online tools. They can now participate in remote work and distance learning, make voice and video calls, and stay connected with family and friends no matter the distance. More importantly, digital telecom technologies are powering essential community infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, cultural centers, libraries, and museums.
Since the beginning of the year, over 140 rural communities in Belgorod region—home to nearly 32,000 people—have been brought online as part of this connectivity initiative.
