BI.ZONE Mail Security Platform Adds New Capabilities to Protect Corporate Email
Developers have paid particular attention to messages carrying password-protected archives as attachments.
It is no secret that one of the most common ways hackers break into organizations is through email and the distribution of malicious files. This is how a large number of corporate infrastructures are compromised. As a result, email protection is a priority for companies focused on cybersecurity.
A New Filtering Method
The BI.ZONE company recently released a major update for the BI.ZONE Mail Security platform. The platform is now available in version 3.0. It is a multilayered solution for protecting corporate email from spam, phishing, malware and other cyberthreats. It blocks unwanted messages before they reach a company’s mail server, reducing the load on the server.
The new release introduces a filtering method called “Password-Protected Archive in Attachment.” If the system cannot unpack a password-protected archive, it assigns additional risk points to the message. The message is not automatically classified as malicious, however. Users can instead take additional precautions in time. Another method, “Fuzzy Message Similarity,” compares email content and identifies mass mailings with identical or slightly modified text.
Protection Against Password Guessing
Another important addition is protection against automated password guessing. If the system detects that a set number of login attempts has been exceeded, the user must complete a CAPTCHA check. This mechanism makes automated attacks on user accounts much more difficult.
The latest update also makes administrators’ day-to-day work somewhat easier. The platform now allows them to enable, disable or delete rules. Quick rules can also be downloaded in batches.
“Thanks to the updated message log, complete information about an email is now displayed in the side panel, while actions on messages can be performed in bulk, and individual messages now have a context menu. We have also added an ‘Events’ section with notifications about important changes. The system currently sends reminders that a license is about to expire 14, 7 and 1 day before its expiration date. For integration with external monitoring systems and SIEM platforms, the user activity log can now be transmitted via the Syslog protocol,” the developers explain.
Simple Mechanisms Are No Longer Enough
The BI.ZONE Mail Security update reflects an important trend emerging among software developers. Companies are moving beyond simple filtering mechanisms that attackers can often bypass. Demand is growing for solutions that analyze email communications. At present, these methods offer the most reliable protection against intrusion attempts.
The active development of domestic anti-phishing tools began in 2022, when foreign developers left the Russian market. One notable development was an update to BI.ZONE CESP, a cloud service for protecting corporate email. The new version added the ability to analyze password-protected archives and check attachments, while also expanding behavioral-analysis capabilities.
What Comes Next?
Another example of the development of comprehensive solutions is the Softline Universe ecosystem. It incorporates security components developed by Kaspersky, including Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway, which protects email traffic from malware and spam.
The year 2025 was marked by active development of Secure Email Gateway solutions. They began to incorporate not only protection against spam and viruses but also analysis of sender behavior and reputation.
Corporate email protection is clearly set to advance further in the near future. Most likely, this development will involve deeper integration of artificial intelligence, which will enable more in-depth analysis of email messages while reducing the workload on administrators.
