In Tambov, the project “People Who Sought to Change the World: 360° Virtual Reality” has concluded after winning the 2025 Rosmolodezh Grants competition. The initiative was led by educator Ilya Machikhin.

Five VR tours were created for school students, focusing on Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya, Pyotr Mozharov, Ivan Michurin, Mikhail Aseev, and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The videos were filmed in 360-degree format, allowing participants to look around freely and experience a sense of full immersion.

After watching the tours, students completed an online test and received a digital certificate titled “Young Local Historian of the Tambov Region.”

Filming, Editing, and Expert Review

The project team worked across five museum sites in the region, including the Aseev Estate, the Ivan Michurin House Museum, and the Ivanovka Museum-Reserve. After filming wrapped, specialists handled editing and color correction and prepared the materials for upload to a digital platform.

Texts for the virtual tours were written by subject-matter experts, and all content underwent professional review to ensure historical accuracy.

“Our project lays the groundwork for long-term, systematic efforts to raise historical and cultural awareness among young people aged 14 to 35 living in the Tambov region. In the near future, the team will publish all five tours in open access on RUTUBE, which supports 360-degree viewing,” Machikhin said.

The project received support from regional authorities and educational institutions.
