Reksoft Develops System to Detect Foreign Objects in Ore
The hardware-and-software platform is designed to significantly reduce equipment downtime.

One of the biggest challenges for mining and ore-processing facilities is unplanned equipment downtime caused by foreign objects entering ore streams and damaging machinery. Reksoft says it has developed a new hardware-and-software platform designed to address that problem.
The system is built around machine-vision technology that monitors ore flows moving along conveyor belts and identifies contaminating objects. When foreign materials are detected, operators receive alerts with precise location data. If necessary, the conveyor system can also be stopped automatically.
According to pilot deployments at a major mining enterprise, the platform reduced unplanned factory downtime by up to 10%, lowered spending on replacement parts, and cut conveyor repair times by as much as 5%.
