Researchers at the Bonch-Bruevich Saint Petersburg State University of Telecommunications are developing Russia's first AI-powered service for people with food intolerances. The platform, called Tsifrovoy Nutritsiolog (Digital Nutritionist), is intended to help improve the quality of life for millions of users.

"According to the Ministry of Health, about 15% to 18% of the country's population has undiagnosed lactose or gluten intolerance, yet only one in ten has received a formal diagnosis. People often do not know which foods are causing pain and discomfort, fail to follow appropriate dietary restrictions, and develop chronic gastrointestinal disorders," the developers said.

The service combines several functions within a single platform. Among them is an AI-powered recipe generator that can automatically adapt recipes to a user's individual dietary needs. The system will recommend alternative ingredients that preserve both the flavor and the nutritional value of a dish while making it safer to consume. The platform will also remain connected to the user's physician, automatically sharing the information needed to support ongoing care.
