Russia Rolls Out Smart Monitoring System for Gas Trucks

An AI-powered logistics platform is making hazardous fuel transport safer and faster in the country’s northern regions.

Russia has launched an innovative digital system to monitor the transport of liquefied gas, introducing a new level of safety and efficiency to one of its most challenging industries. The MTS digital ecosystem now tracks the fleet of ALLIANCEGAS, whose tankers operate across the Tyumen Region and the Khanty-Mansiysk and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts.

The system provides real-time tracking of vehicle location, routes, and speed, while also alerting drivers to potentially dangerous proximity with other vehicles. Dispatchers can access interactive dashboards to adjust routes on the fly and manage fleets more efficiently. By the end of 2025, the company plans to digitize eight gas carriers, Ura.ru reports.

Smarter, Safer, and More Disciplined

According to Valentina Bilan, director of ALLIANCEGAS, the technology minimizes downtime, speeds up emergency response, and ensures on-time fuel delivery. “The system also disciplines drivers — something we’ve already noticed in practice,” she said. The company plans to expand the platform to its entire fleet.

Similar technologies used in the oil and gas sector of Yugra have already shown impressive results: unsafe driving incidents dropped by more than 80 percent, and overall fleet efficiency increased by 15 percent.

The success of these deployments highlights the global potential of Russian smart transport systems, proving that digital logistics can thrive even in harsh northern conditions.
