Russian Company Unveils Modular AI Platform for Mining at African Forum
Executives say African operators are actively seeking practical AI tools for coal production.

OES (Operational Excellence), a company focused on deploying artificial intelligence in the mining sector, attended Mining Indaba, Africa’s largest technology and investment conference for the industry, where it presented a modular platform built on AI and advanced algorithms.
Industry experts note that while the number of digital systems at mining sites continues to grow and operational transparency is improving, production performance at the level of a single shift can still be enhanced. OES argues that productivity limits in open-pit mining stem less from equipment or data constraints than from operational control.
A Distinct Tool for Every Role
The platform automatically detects deviations from plan, prioritizes them, and helps monitor task execution throughout the shift. Each role has its own interface: dispatchers receive a list of priority tasks, while shift supervisors see execution status and responsible personnel.
Management can identify where time is regularly lost – repeated deviations, delayed responses, or resource mismatches. Equipment operators receive instructions directly, shortening decision cycles and accelerating production.
OES says digital transformation should lead to a structured response to deviations rather than remain a monitoring tool.
