Step Into the Moscow of the Future—This August

From VR cityscapes to AI-powered infrastructure demos, Moscow's 'Territory of the Future' forum is shaping the conversation on what urban life could look like in 2030.

50+ Tech-Heavy Installations in a Giant Urban Sandbox

Running from August 1 to 31, the 'That Very Moscow' exhibition will occupy over 11,000 square meters at the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall. It will feature 11 themed zones and more than 50 high-tech exhibits—ranging from VR showcases to 3D holograms and outdoor simulators of public transport and construction equipment.

Beyond the Manezh, the forum will extend into iconic city spaces including Gostiny Dvor, Zaryadye Park, Museon Park, Luzhniki Stadium, VDNH, MosKino Studios, and the 50th Anniversary of October Park. Visitors can expect tech-infused lectures, masterclasses, street performances, and cultural experiences—all centered on Moscow’s trajectory toward a smarter, more connected cityscape.

City Design, Crowd-Sourced

Forum organizers are encouraging young attendees to become co-creators of Moscow’s future. Citizens will get to play urban planners, contributing design ideas and using simulators to reimagine what a comfortable, efficient city could be.

Visitors will experience technologies already used by Muscovites, take part in immersive activities and educational sessions, and get to see how technological progress is applied across sectors. Experts will explain, in plain language, how innovation is reshaping the city—and give everyone the chance to step into the shoes of tomorrow’s engineers and digital professionals

According to Vladislav Ovchinsky, head of Moscow’s Urban Policy Department, the event aims to “help people understand the development agenda and see where their ideas can fit in.” Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maxim Liksutov adds, “Under Mayor Sergey Sobyanin’s leadership, we’ve built an infrastructure plan that puts citizen well-being first.”

Test Driving Tomorrow

This is the third year of the annual forum, which drew 357,000 visitors in 2024. What makes it stand out isn’t just the scale—it’s the format. Interactive urbanism meets immersive media and public-sector tech innovation.

In past years, visitors tried out subway simulators that mirrored real Moscow metro cabins. This year, attendees will get hands-on with infrastructure design tools, planning layouts that reflect personal preferences and social needs.

The forum serves as a living demo for emerging Russian innovations—from citywide VR rollouts to robotic transit concepts. Organizers see it as a proving ground not only for Moscow but for national and even international urban tech strategies.

Building a Digital-Civic Future

Experts point to the growing presence of VR and simulator-based training tools at domestic and international tech expos. Moscow’s event underscores how city IT departments, software developers, and immersive tech companies are now operating in close sync.

This collaboration is key to delivering what urban residents really want: transparent governance, frictionless transport, and future-ready digital infrastructure. The forum acts as both a stage and a laboratory for these ambitions, blending public engagement with technological foresight.
