Alfa-Bank has launched a service that issues qualified electronic signature certificates for businesses and sole proprietors. The service is provided on behalf of the Certification Center of Russia’s Federal Tax Service (FNS). It is currently available at 12 branches in Moscow and the Moscow Region, with plans to expand it to other parts of the country over the coming year.

The service became possible after the bank met all regulatory requirements related to information security and electronic signatures and received trusted representative status from the Federal Tax Service’s Certification Center.

A qualified electronic signature is the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature. It can be used to submit regulatory filings, sign documents with business partners, participate in government procurement programs, and manage electronic document workflows. Businesses rely on qualified electronic signatures to give legal validity to digital documents.

“We understand that entrepreneurs want to spend as little time as possible on mandatory administrative procedures and as much time as possible on growing their businesses. By launching qualified electronic signature issuance at Alfa-Bank, we are giving clients fast and convenient access to a tool they need for working with government services and electronic document management in a familiar banking environment,” said Denis Osin, director of small and microbusiness at Alfa-Bank.
