High-Speed Internet Is Turning Russian Gardeners into Smart Farmers and Content Creators

Reliable mobile coverage is reaching Russian dacha communities, enabling smart greenhouses, AI-powered irrigation, and even livestreaming from backyard gardens.

Mobile connectivity and high-speed internet are expanding rapidly in Russia, now reaching deep into the country’s suburban garden communities. In the Kaliningrad region, for instance, recent upgrades have brought internet speeds of up to 80 Mbps to more than 20 dacha cooperatives and cottage settlements near the town of Baltiysk.

With stable connections, hobbyist gardeners are going digital. Smart irrigation systems and AI-powered greenhouse controls are becoming increasingly common, allowing users to monitor crops using live cameras and sensors. Gardeners are also turning into creators—posting videos, sharing tips, and livestreaming from their plots thanks to reliable mobile coverage.

The new base stations integrate multiple frequency bands, which has increased Russia’s average mobile internet speed by roughly 30 percent. Network capacity has expanded too, enabling large numbers of users to access high-quality digital services simultaneously. For Russia’s growing population of tech-savvy gardeners, the backyard is officially online.
