Personalized Fitness Plans Now Available on the Sport Podmoskovye Portal

A new ‘Adaptive Sports’ section is now available on the Sport Podmoskovye portal. It helps residents with disabilities and limited mobility find sports programs, training sessions, and facilities tailored to their individual needs.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, Information Technology and Communications of the Moscow Region, the new service is designed to make physical activity accessible to all residents by offering a user-friendly system to search for training sessions and sports programs based on individual requirements.

Using the service, users can find a suitable facility from more than 450 options on the portal in just a few clicks, review schedules, and check coaches’ qualifications. The platform is already gaining traction, with more than 1,000 applications submitted.

AI Helps Expand Participation in Sports

At the national level, Russia has set a goal of increasing the share of people who regularly engage in sports to 70% by 2030. Achieving this requires not only expanding sports infrastructure but also managing how facilities are used and ensuring they are accessible to people with disabilities. According to Russia’s Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev, about 25% of Russians with disabilities who have no medical contraindications already participate in physical activity on a regular basis.

To better allocate facility usage, AI analytics are already being applied in Moscow and the surrounding region. These tools identify idle hours and low-traffic time slots, which can then be used to schedule sessions for target groups or offer discounted access.

The new regional digital service follows the same objective – increasing participation while making the system easier to navigate. It reflects a shift from simple online registration to a more advanced model of personalized selection, using filters based on accessibility, training format, skill level, and facility characteristics.

Residents of the Moscow Region – including people with disabilities, parents of children with special needs, and individuals with limited mobility – now have a faster path to sports participation. There is no longer a need to call multiple facilities to confirm accessibility conditions. Digital filtering reduces barriers to entry and enables more precise choices.

Beyond Filters: Toward Personalized Recommendations

For the region, the service can improve facility utilization, support the development of adaptive sports, and generate data on real demand for programs. At the national level, it represents a scalable regional practice that could be expanded to other regions and integrated with federal platforms such as FGIS Sport, which already supports enrollment in youth sports schools, event registration, fitness testing, and facility search.

Similar solutions could be adopted across Russia, especially in large urban areas where many facilities exist but users struggle to identify those that meet their needs.

The next stage of development is the introduction of recommendation engines. For example, the system could match users with programs based on age, medical constraints, location, transport accessibility, skill level, and preferred training times.

A Public Registry of Accessibility

Over time, the service could evolve into a public registry of sports facility accessibility, detailing features such as ramps, adapted locker rooms, accessible restrooms, elevators, parking, and availability of trained support staff. While these features benefit all users, they are often essential for people with disabilities.

The launch of the Adaptive Sports section on the Sport Podmoskovye portal demonstrates how regional digital services are moving toward more targeted and socially impactful models. The platform helps users with disabilities and limited mobility find facilities that match their specific needs, including accessible infrastructure, qualified coaches, and clear schedules.

Our goal is to make physical activity an integral part of everyday life for every Russian, regardless of age or social status
