On Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, Robot 'Polina' Helps Residents Find Medicine

A digital assistant called 'Polina' is proving effective in Kamchatka’s regional call center, guiding citizens through government services, scheduling doctor appointments, and even helping locate critical medicines. At the same time, similar AI systems are being deployed nationally to analyze government programs and predict risks.

The voice robot 'Polina' was launched in Kamchatka several years ago and is now fully integrated into the region’s unified call center, which operates around the clock with nearly 100 percent efficiency.

Polina handles multiple key tasks: advising citizens on multifunctional service center (MFC) services, scheduling medical appointments, and checking the availability of vital medicines in local pharmacies.

To get information, residents simply call the center. The robot asks a few short questions, including mandatory consent for the processing of personal data, before forwarding the request to the regional Ministry of Health. Officials then contact the caller within a day to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, artificial intelligence technologies are being applied nationwide. A dedicated system monitors the implementation of national projects and government programs in real time. Capable of processing more than a thousand scenarios per minute, the AI performs analytical work that would take years to complete manually.

For ordinary citizens, Polina and similar tools are a fast and convenient way to solve daily problems, saving time and easing the workload of human operators. For the government, AI technologies are becoming a powerful instrument for analytics, improving both the speed and quality of decision-making.
