Sergey Erokhin: Creative Industries Cannot Be Separated From Digital Technologies

For Russia's creative industries to develop effectively, inventive talent, engineering expertise, and digital platforms must work together. That combination creates the conditions for unique products capable of succeeding in both domestic and international markets.

Speaking during the seventh annual Rossiyskaya Kreativnaya Nedelya (Russian Creative Week) federal festival and forum at Moscow's Gorky Park, Sergey Erokhin, Rector of the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI), explained in an exclusive interview what is needed to build the talent pipeline for the creative industries and which technologies are becoming the foundation of the sector's future.

– Russian Creative Week has once again demonstrated that today's creative industries cannot be viewed separately from digital technologies. Artificial intelligence, big data, advanced telecommunications, virtual and augmented reality, and digital platforms are becoming the technological foundation for media, design, filmmaking, music, education, and many other sectors.

Just as importantly, the discussions increasingly emphasize the need to bring together creative talent and engineering expertise. It is where these disciplines intersect that the most in-demand products and services emerge – products capable of competing successfully in both the Russian and international markets.

MTUCI possesses all the capabilities needed to become one of the country's leading educational and expert centers in this field. More than a century of experience in preparing highly qualified professionals, modern laboratories, strong scientific schools, and close collaboration with leading IT and telecommunications companies enable us not only to educate the next generation of specialists but also to contribute to the development of technological solutions for the creative economy.

Today, the university is open to collaboration with industry, government, and the professional community. We are ready to serve as an expert platform, jointly develop educational and research initiatives, and help build the competencies that will shape the future of Russia's digital and creative industries in the years ahead.
