Specialists from Rosatom organized a tour of their Additive Manufacturing Center for students and young professionals as part of the “Day Without Turnstiles” initiative.

Visitors were introduced to the capabilities of metal 3D printing, including direct metal deposition (DMD), a technology that enables the production of parts while preserving the geometry and properties of the original material. In addition to advanced printers, the center is equipped with two- and three-axis scanners that can create precise digital replicas of physical objects of virtually any shape and complexity.

Participants were also shown examples of finished products, including a segment of the core baffle for a VVER-TOI nuclear reactor, produced on one of the largest 3D printers in Russia.

According to the center’s management, additive technologies can double the speed of manufacturing complex parts, increase product strength by 30% through the use of advanced materials and reduce production waste by up to 90%.
