AI Helps Optimize Sports Facilities Across Russia
The “Smart Sports Complex” system tracks visitor flow and efficiency in real time through AI-powered cameras.

Nearly half of the sports facilities in Russia’s Moscow region are now equipped with AI-driven video surveillance systems, Governor Andrey Vorobyov announced during a meeting of the Presidential Council for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports.
The technology automatically counts visitors and sends the data to a unified digital platform called “My Sport.” The system produces detailed analytics, identifying peak and low-traffic hours for each complex. This information helps officials redistribute workloads more efficiently and determine where new facilities may be needed.
Smarter Management Through Analytics
In the near future, all 500 sports facilities in the region will be equipped with these intelligent cameras. The AI-generated data will be used to evaluate the performance and utilization rates of each site.
Digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in Russian sports—from improving referee accuracy and predicting player performance to assessing stadium occupancy. The “Smart Sports Complex” initiative shows how artificial intelligence can turn athletic infrastructure into a model of efficiency and smart resource management.
