Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant engineer Daniil Zavadsky has successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation at Ural Federal University. His research presents a range of engineering approaches designed to reduce unnecessary radiation exposure for nuclear power plant personnel.

One of the study's most significant outcomes is the development of mathematical models and software algorithms that calculate optimal movement routes for personnel working in areas with nonuniform radiation fields. The dissertation also includes three-dimensional information models of spent fuel pool facilities and the primary circuit sodium pipeline systems, along with engineering solutions for additional pipeline radiation shielding.

According to the research, applying these solutions in practice could reduce radiation doses received by personnel by 10% to 30%. The approaches can be used both to improve the operation of existing facilities and in the design of new nuclear power units.
