In Orenburg, emergency services personnel are inspecting rooftops using drones, the agency’s press service said. Rescuers are checking for hazardous accumulations of snow and ice. Specialists from the State Housing Inspectorate have also joined the monitoring effort. Using drones, they can quickly examine a large number of apartment buildings. Based on the data collected, management companies receive orders to address the aftermath of snowfall.

Over the course of a week, more than 30 residential and social facility rooftops were inspected in the city. Such checks help reduce the risk of roof damage or falling icicles.

Digital technologies are increasingly used to enhance safety during winter. In St. Petersburg and other major cities, AI-powered cameras monitor the formation of ice. Neural networks analyze images in real time and alert operators if they detect dangerous snow buildup or icicles.
