Novovoronezh Nuclear Plant Showcases Russia’s Digital Energy Future
At a major Moscow exhibition, one of Russia’s flagship nuclear stations unveiled AI-driven safety systems, next-generation fuel, and massive infrastructure projects shaping the future of atomic energy.

The Novovoronezh Nuclear Power Plant, a leader in Russia’s nuclear industry, presented breakthrough technologies at the Region-2030 exhibition in Moscow. Among the highlights was an artificial intelligence system that can forecast conditions inside a reactor unit 30 minutes in advance, raising nuclear safety to a fundamentally new level.
The Region-2030 showcase of Voronezh Region achievements ranged from prehistoric human sites to advanced technologies. The “Peaceful Atom” zone drew the most attention, offering a 3D model of the plant and even a virtual tour inside the reactor hall of its newest power unit.
The most interest centered on the “Space of the Future” projects. Representatives of the plant, which traditionally serves as Rosatom’s testbed for innovations, detailed three key initiatives:
- Deployment of an AI system to analyze data from 360 technological subsystems of the reactor unit.
- Introduction of next-generation nuclear fuel designed to boost efficiency and environmental performance.
- Construction of a 550-kilometer high-voltage transmission line from Novovoronezh to Moscow to strengthen the capital region’s energy security.
The significance of these projects for Russia’s economy and energy system was underscored by high-profile attendees, including Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Alexey Gordeev.
