Ozon Moves to Build Its Own Shield Against Hackers
Ozon, one of Russia’s largest marketplaces, has begun developing its own web application firewall to protect its services, with annual investment potentially reaching hundreds of millions of rubles.

The new initiative came to light through a senior data specialist job posting published on HeadHunter.
Ozon’s press service said the marketplace has used WAF-class tools for several years to protect its services from automated attacks, bots and vulnerability exploits. For a platform of this scale, such protection is critical, with both system stability and the data of millions of users at stake.
Building an in-house solution will allow the company to better detect complex attacks and adapt security rules more quickly to emerging threats. The firewall is not intended to become a standalone product, as Ozon is focusing on strengthening its internal expertise.
