Russia Develops First AI-Driven Chemistry Curriculum

Russian universities are launching an AI-powered academic module to train next-generation chemists for industries like pharmaceuticals and materials science.
Tomsk State University (TSU) and Kazan National Research Technological University (KNRTU) are co-developing Russia’s first artificial intelligence-based education module for chemistry students. The initiative is part of the Big Data Consortium, a collaboration among 79 universities from Russia and the CIS, according to a university press release.
The AI-enhanced module is designed to help students master cutting-edge technologies for careers in chemical manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and materials science. It also addresses growing industry demand and supports Russia’s push for greater technological sovereignty.
The curriculum will set a nationwide benchmark for digital literacy among chemistry graduates, speeding up innovation in materials development and bolstering the global competitiveness of Russian science.
Following its pilot phase, the module will be expanded to other universities across the country.
