Russia’s Federation Council is developing an interactive map of adaptive sports facilities, bringing together data on accessible venues across the country. The project is led by the council’s Committee on Social Policy, with participation from the Ministry of Sport and regional sports organizations. The platform is expected to allow users to search for facilities with addresses and contact details, consolidating information that is currently scattered across multiple sources.

Accessible Environment

“Each region should maintain a complete and regularly updated database of adaptive sports organizations, including contact information. The Federation Council’s Committee on Social Policy proposes creating an accessible interactive map of adaptive sports facilities across Russia. We are working on this together with the Ministry of Sport and regional authorities,” said committee member and Olympic fencing champion Evgenia Lamonova.

The map is intended to serve as a digital navigation tool for adaptive sports infrastructure, making it significantly easier for people with disabilities to access sports activities.

Expansion Across Regions

The project is being developed at multiple levels. Regional authorities are expected to compile and regularly update databases of sports organizations. At the same time, plans are being discussed to launch demonstration and education centers.

“Ahead lies substantial work at both the federal and regional levels. One of its key components is the creation of demonstration and education centers for adaptive sports in every region of the country,” Lamonova added.
