Russian Software Tracks Attention Levels in Real Time
A new tool detects when users lose focus during tasks or discussions

Students at Yaroslav the Wise Novgorod State University have developed software that detects lapses in attention, the university’s press service said. The Mind Link neurointerface analyzes EEG rhythms, monitors concentration, and identifies moments when a person shifts away from the topic being discussed.
The developers conducted several attention experiments with a group of students performing tasks using the neurointerface, recording all metrics in real time. The result was 28 datasets, each containing nearly five minutes of continuous brain activity recordings.
Applications in Medicine and Education
According to Yevgeny Mendeleev, head of the Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory at the university’s Advanced Engineering School, the key outcome was not only testing the neurointerface but also creating a standalone software product called Mind Analysis.
The system could be used to improve educational outcomes or in healthcare, particularly for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
