Russian Clinic Deploys AI-Powered Robot to Sort Medical Tests

The new system speeds up lab diagnostics and reduces human error by automating sample handling.

A city clinic in Syktyvkar, the capital of Russia’s Komi Republic, has launched the region’s first automated medical sample sorter — a robotic system capable of processing up to 2,500 test tubes per hour. The Futurelab MS2500 registers, labels, and distributes blood and biological samples automatically, cutting diagnostic wait times and virtually eliminating human error.

The robot integrates directly with the clinic’s laboratory information system, scanning barcodes and transmitting data in real time. Its key advantage lies in the speed and precision of sorting, which allows lab personnel to focus on more complex analytical work instead of routine handling.

Futurelab MS2500: Faster, Smarter Diagnostics

“Automation minimizes the human factor, prevents mix-ups, and ensures accurate distribution,” said Elena Krisanova, head of the clinic’s diagnostic lab. “It allows us to speed up diagnostics and reduce wait times for patients — especially in urgent cases.”

The clinic is also installing a new water purification system to guarantee consistent quality for laboratory research. Together, these innovations bring the facility’s diagnostic services in line with global best practices in healthcare.
