Russian Software for Creating Museum Archives and Exhibitions Added to Russia’s Official Software Registry
The interactive IT Konstruktor system has been added to the Unified Register of Russian Software for Electronic Computers and Databases maintained by Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development.
IT Konstruktor is designed to create digital “books of memory,” interactive archives, museum exhibitions, reference systems and educational projects without the involvement of developers. Users can build project structures themselves and add photographs, documents, video and audio materials.
A Toolkit for Creativity
AV Complex develops interactive equipment and software, releasing at least two new products a year. The company introduced IT Konstruktor in July. Using a set of ready-made tools, users can manage a project’s structure, upload documents and media files, and configure display settings, including accessibility features for users with disabilities.
The creators of IT Konstruktor say its main advantage is that it requires no specialized skills. Any organization that wants to create an archive or “book of memory” will not need to hire IT professionals – it can simply use IT Konstruktor.
Adding the product to the Ministry of Digital Development’s registry is particularly important because it was designed for public-sector organizations such as museums, libraries and archives. Its official status allows organizations to purchase IT Konstruktor under Federal Laws No. 44-FZ and 223-FZ, meaning they can use public funds to buy it. Inclusion in the ministry’s registry also makes the product eligible for procurement by state and municipal organizations under current legislation.
A Find for Small Museums and Libraries
In recent years, Russia has been developing its own application software for government and social sectors. This includes specialized digital tools for education, culture, museums, archives and municipal projects.
IT Konstruktor is particularly relevant to digitizing historical memory and cultural heritage. Solutions like this make it possible to quickly turn archival materials, museum collections and regional history projects into interactive formats. That work has also become a government priority.
Importantly, even the smallest organizations – libraries, museums and cultural centers – can now create local digital exhibitions in schools, museums, libraries and public spaces. It becomes easier to preserve family archives, veterans’ memories and materials documenting regional history. Small cities can also scale these digital projects across their regions and municipalities.
Government Organizations Become a Market Driver
Over the past five years, Russia has been actively building digital infrastructure, with culture among the areas seeing particularly rapid development. Digitizing cultural heritage is moving beyond simply preserving archives and memories in digital form. It is now equally important to create memorial and educational projects in which those digital copies can be put to practical use.
Russia’s market for IT products focused on digitizing historical memory is still taking shape, with schools, museums, archives and municipal institutions generating demand. The inclusion of IT Konstruktor in the Ministry of Digital Development’s registry demonstrates the development of Russia’s specialized software segment for culture, education and government projects.
