Habtamu Tadesse: Artificial Intelligence Is Improving Banking, but It Also Carries Certain Risks

Representatives from 120 countries have gathered in Moscow for the 2nd Global Digital Forum.

Participants are discussing artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital sovereignty, as well as digital inequality and ways to narrow the technology gap between countries. Habtamu Tadesse of Ethiopia spoke to the IT Russia media platform about his impressions of the forum and his views on the use of AI in the financial sector.

– I represent my fintech company, which I founded and lead.

This is my first visit to Russia and my first time attending the Global Digital Forum. I’m impressed by how well the event is organized and by the fact that it has brought together people from all over the world who are changing lives and moving the world forward. It’s great that we have an opportunity to share our experiences. Although we live in different parts of the world, many of the challenges and problems we face are similar. I’m glad to exchange ideas with people who are striving to bring about change.

Yesterday, we discussed the development of artificial intelligence at the forum. This is one of the most relevant topics for me because AI is increasingly being used to develop banking solutions and payment systems. These technologies are improving banking and other industries, particularly by helping reduce the risk of human error.

However, artificial intelligence also poses certain risks. For example, it can lead to job losses. So, alongside its benefits, there are also downsides. That’s why it’s important to discuss not only what AI can do, but also the consequences of implementing it.
