Wisdom Balicholo: We Must Learn to Control AI Before It Starts Controlling Us
The 2nd Global Digital Forum in Moscow is addressing international cooperation in technology and the need for common rules governing the use of artificial intelligence.
Delegates from 120 countries are exploring practical ways to develop joint IT projects that combine technological independence with international partnerships. Wisdom Balicholo, a web and software developer from Zimbabwe, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about his participation in the forum.
– I represent a company that operates in southern Africa, where I work on web and software development. I came to the Global Digital Forum to connect with colleagues, learn more about advances in artificial intelligence, understand how AI affects people’s lives and explore whether its use can be controlled.
The forum gives me an opportunity to meet IT experts from different countries and exchange experience. I’ve learned a lot here about AI development and model training. I’ll share what I’ve learned with my colleagues when I return home.
I’m most interested in the development of artificial intelligence and accountability for its use. AI is already changing our lives significantly, so it’s important to understand what measures are needed to keep its use under control before it starts controlling us.
We need to think ahead about how to ensure that oversight. AI helps us solve many problems, but it’s also important to take the potential risks of using it into account.
