Novosibirsk Region Connects 189 Traffic Signals to Intelligent Transport System
The signals can adapt to changing road conditions.

Novosibirsk Region is continuing to expand its intelligent transport system (ITS). The region operates a unified traffic management platform, which now connects 189 traffic signal installations. In addition, 901 detectors have been installed to collect traffic flow data. The equipment analyzes road congestion in real time, allowing traffic signal timings to be adjusted promptly to reflect current conditions.
By 2027, the region’s ITS is expected to reach Level 1 maturity. This will require further automation of traffic signal operations, along with more comprehensive monitoring of road traffic and weather conditions.
Adaptive traffic signals integrated with the control center now account for 29% of all signals, exceeding the minimum target of 20%. However, the region has yet to meet the required detector coverage. The detectors currently cover just 28% of major streets and roads, compared with the Level 1 target of at least 40%. The region plans to close this gap over the next year.
