Teshome Balcha: Memorandum Marks a Step Forward in Cooperation Between Ethiopian and Russian Universities

The business program of the 2nd Global Digital Forum in Moscow includes not only discussions about the future of digital technology but also the establishment of new partnerships. Participants are formalizing verbal agreements by signing memorandums of cooperation.

One such document will bring together Dilla University in Ethiopia and the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI). Teshome Balcha, a representative of Dilla University, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about the agreement.

– Today, we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI). This document is extremely important to us. Our university is considered a ‘green’ university. We work on agricultural technologies, agritech, engineering, and information and communication technologies.

This memorandum will allow our two universities to move forward. We hope it will give our students the opportunity to study in Russia. It will also expand opportunities for joint research in modern technology and computer science. This is undoubtedly a step forward in cooperation between Ethiopia’s Dilla University and the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.

MTUCI’s main areas of focus are communications and informatics, so the memorandum gives particular attention to these fields. It provides for exchanges of students and information, the sharing of expertise in communications and informatics, internships at both universities, and cultural exchange, which is equally important.

Once we return home, we will contact our colleagues and the staff responsible for these matters at MTUCI. We will then begin developing a concrete action plan for the areas where we have already reached a common understanding and identified opportunities for cooperation. So all of this will happen very soon.

Since Ethiopia is now a BRICS member country, I hope we will see the results of our partnership in the near future. Our joint work will be guided by BRICS legal principles.
