AI Platform “Biblioteka-Neiro” Set to Connect Library Systems Across Russia
Around 25 libraries plan to adopt the new tool this year

Russian libraries are beginning to adopt AI technologies. The Biblioteka-Neiro platform, developed by the Arctic State Institute of Culture and Arts in Yakutia, is set to be deployed in 25 institutions across the country this year, TASS reported.
Biblioteka-Neiro is described as the country’s first multifunctional virtual platform combining an AI cataloging system, a smart assistant, and text processing tools. It is designed primarily to speed up and streamline library operations. The platform also allows institutions to build custom services for managing collections, including intelligent search and user communication tools.
Eightfold Speed Gains
According to Rector Sargylana Ignatieva, the key innovation is the AI cataloging module – an intelligent system for automatically generating machine-readable bibliographic records. At the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), the module is already accelerating catalog operations and improving metadata quality. Creating a single catalog entry now takes about five minutes, compared with 40 minutes previously.
The system has received a patent.
