E-commerce in Russia continues to expand rapidly. In 2025, the total volume of online sales exceeded 14.6 trillion rubles (about $175 billion), TASS reported, citing Ekaterina Nogai, head of research and analytics at IBC Real Estate. By the end of 2026, the figure is expected to grow by roughly another 8 trillion rubles, reaching about 17.6 trillion rubles (around $211 billion).

Clothing and Footwear Lead the Market

Since the beginning of the year, online sales have already surpassed 2 trillion rubles (about $24 billion). That is 17 percent higher than during the first months of 2025. Russians most frequently buy clothing and footwear online, along with children’s products and health and beauty items. In the footwear category, Nogai said, 94 percent of online sales take place through marketplaces.

In 2026, Russia plans to introduce a law regulating the platform economy. The legislation is intended to protect the interests of sellers and buyers on online platforms. The government is currently working on the regulatory framework.
