The library was transformed into a model library under the Semya (Family) national project. It was redesigned around an aviation and space theme, furnished with new furniture and stocked with more than 1,500 additional books. The biggest addition is a VR headset with career guidance software that lets visitors try out jobs including crane operator, machinist, firefighter, pastry chef, drone operator, paramedic and welder.

For younger visitors, the library installed Ozhivshiye risunki (Drawings Come to Life), a system that turns children’s drawings into animations projected onto a wall. The renovated space also includes coworking areas with computers and Wi-Fi, family reading areas and free access to Russia’s National Electronic Library.

The library occupies the ground floor of a building constructed in 1957. Residents of the Leninsky District requested the renovation, while professionals from the Yuri Gagarin Aircraft Plant helped develop the design. The library is designed to serve 6,500 readers.
