Rosatom has completed deliveries of automated process control systems for the first power unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, which is under construction in Bangladesh. The shipment included 22 subsystems that will function as the unit’s electronic control center. The systems will monitor equipment operations, power transmission to the grid and other technological processes.

“At this stage, all automated process control equipment for the first power unit of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant has been delivered and configured at the construction site. As part of the project, we introduced several improvements. For example, the automated radiation-monitoring systems were implemented in a compact stand-mounted configuration for the first time,” said Gleb Murashov, managing director for automated process control systems at RASU.

The 2,400-megawatt Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant is being built about 160 kilometers from Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka. Bangladesh selected a Russian-designed project using VVER-1200 reactors for the country’s first nuclear power plant.
