A special fire safety regime is already in place in 26 regions, with the most severe situation reported in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast, where more than 100,000 hectares have burned and a state of emergency has been declared. In response, the utility has rolled out a large-scale system to protect its infrastructure.

“In all companies within the Rosseti Group, a set of measures has been implemented to ensure the reliable operation of grid infrastructure,” the company said in a statement.

Conditions are monitored using Rosseti’s geospatial platform and a satellite tracking system operated by the EMERCOM of Russia. Firebreaks are being created along power lines and around substations to stop the spread of flames. This year’s vegetation clearance plan covers 174,000 hectares. To respond to potential outages, about 10,600 repair crews are on standby, including more than 53,000 specialists and 27,000 pieces of equipment.
