Engineers at the Crimean Engineering and Pedagogical University are working on an autonomous robot designed for vineyard operations. The project is being developed jointly with local enterprises, which are expected to supply circuit boards and a self-propelled mechanical platform, while the university team is responsible for all software development.

The system is expected to operate in two modes: autonomous and operator-controlled. The latter is intended for use in case of satellite navigation disruptions. In such situations, an operator will be able to control the robot using onboard sensors and cameras.

Developers say the platform could be used beyond agriculture. It may also be adapted for municipal services and other industries.

This is not the first project aimed at improving productivity in Crimea’s wine sector. In 2024, a management system developed at the Sevastopol IT Park was piloted at three wineries near Sevastopol.
