South Ural State University Develops Robotic Warehouse for Drone Mail Delivery
The prototype system is currently undergoing testing as researchers work toward fully autonomous parcel delivery.

Researchers at South Ural State University have developed a fully automated postal warehouse designed to serve as a foundation for drone-based parcel delivery systems.
According to the project team, current drone mail delivery systems worldwide still rely on human operators. Fully autonomous solutions have yet to be implemented, but the researchers say their work marks a significant step toward solving that challenge.
At this stage, the warehouse exists as a full-scale test platform. Parcels of different sizes are loaded into designated cells, and upon receiving a command, a robot transfers the shipment to a conveyor that moves it to a drone landing point. A drone then picks up the package.
Flight testing is expected to begin this summer.
