The agreement was signed at the Eastern Economic Forum by Valery Ermakov, deputy president and chairman of the executive board of Rostelecom, and Sergey Aramilev, CEO of the Amur Tiger Center. The partners will build digital infrastructure for wildlife rehabilitation centers and ecotourism sites in Primorye, with plans to expand the initiative to Khabarovsk Krai in the future. Rostelecom has already connected the wildlife center under construction in the village of Kaimanovka to the internet.

Rostelecom will equip the centers with video surveillance, thermal imaging cameras and video analytics for monitoring, as well as tools for research and environmental education. The partners will also develop a concept for an AI-powered “digital reserve” that can recognize animals, analyze their behavior and help protect them from poachers.

“Protecting the unique Amur tiger population requires a combination of innovative conservation approaches and advanced digital technologies. This combination can minimize human interference in natural habitats while enabling effective monitoring and oversight,” Valery Ermakov said.
